HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!

‘Tis the most wonderful time of the year!  Anyone who knows me well knows that I fucking LOVE the weeks leading up to Halloween….a season to celebrate all things lugubrious.  Dressing up weird…howling at the moon…talking like Count Chocula….listening to loads of dark music from Shockabilly to the most ridiculous Goth….and of course…watching HORROR MOVIES.  Fellow horror flick enthusiasts always ask me what my favorites are….so, here’s my top 20….in no particular order:

1. THE SHINING (STILL gives me the creeps…)
2. FRIGHT NIGHT (Original 80’s movie…NOT the recent remake)
3. RETURN OF THE LIVING DEAD (80’s punk + Zombies)
4. HIGH TENSION (Over the top French slasher flick)
5. ZOMBIE (Underwater fight between zombie and shark…)
6. HALLOWEEN (John Carpenter is a genius)
7. HALLOWEEN 2 (John Carpenter is still a genius)
8. SUSPIRIA (Dario Argento is Italy’s Stanley Kubrick)
9. PHANTASM 2 (The BALL is back!)
10. EVIL DEAD (Classic Bruce Cambell…)
11. THE FOG (Totally underrated 1980 John Carpenter chiller)
12. FRIDAY THE 13th (Completely changed the horror movie game)
13. FRIDAY THE 13th Part 2 (see #12)
14. THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE (Tobe Hooper=visionary)
15. HOUSE OF 1000 CORPSES (Brilliant homage to #14)
16. THE THING (Carpenter again…his amazing 1982 remake)
17. MY BLOODY VALENTINE (Before the band, there was the movie)
18. CREEPSHOW (5 short stories within 1 movie…too much fun!)
19. PRINCE OF DARKNESS (1 more from Mr. John Carpenter…)
20. SLITHER (This one TRULY freaked my shit out…SCARY.)

So there you are…there are surely movies I’ve yet to see that should be on the list, but these are my favorites.  If you love horror flicks like I do…check these out!

Back to Wizard business….we might have a very special-secret-announced-at-the-last-minute Halloween live performance here in the Portland area somewhere!  Stay tuned to this vibration for the latest.  Keep it creepy this Halloween kiddies!
