Wizard Boots will be taking a short break from recording the new album with the band in Portland…..and what better way to re-energize yourself creatively, than to take a little trip down to the old country? A proud prodigal son of Northwest Arkansas….Boots will be doing a pair of epic shows in Fort Smith this April. And for the first time in years, guitar genius, Christopher Jones AND the lovely Miss Hillary will be back with Boots for both shows! A former Sex Zombie AND a former Horsehead Bookend….damn…can’t beat that. Boots is planning to attempt to squeeze 40 to 50 songs from his hellish repertoire into the two performances….. More surprise guests to be announced ……opening bands for the shows are Jim Dick & The Pocket Aces on Friday and Vinz Clortho has cancelled for Saturday, but a replacement will be announced. There is no cover charge! Get ready to get ready….

So here we are in the year 2010….Wizard Boots has been an active musical entity for five whole years! And it feels like we’re just getting warmed up. Whenever I try to have a serious sort of discussion with any sort of person involved with this thing called The Music Business ….the question I will always inevitably be asked is, “What are your long term goals for this band?” Hmmmmmm…..well…..the truth is….I don’t have any long term goals. And THAT, my friends is why I will never fail. The way I see it, is that if you set reasonable and attainable short term goals….and of course follow through on them….who can say that you’ve failed? No one. Now I admit that this band comes up with some pretty insane schemes that definitely fall into the “pipe dream” category…..but when we actually commit to making something happen, whether it’s a recording or an idea for a live show or a road trip or a video or whatever….it eventually happens. So what sort of master plan is on the horizon for this year? Ahhh….you’ll just have to wait and see. I’m scheming right at this very moment. Whatever your field of artistry is….don’t ever let ‘em tell that THIS is the way it’s done and THAT will never be accepted. “Because that’s the way it’s always been done….” Hmmmm…..nope….not good enough for me. We’ll continue to carve out our own path and all the fashion bands in Portland can continue worrying about their hair styling products. Although I’m definitely in the right city to end up crazy and homeless and mumbling towards the sky or the sidewalk….I actually think I’ll talk to squirrells. Squirrell Man….that’s what they’ll call me. So before I ramble on into various conspiracies and food additives and class wars and “Keeping Up With The Kardashians”…..consider this: I am not now nor have I ever been trying to “make it” as an artist. Wizard Boots….this band….here and now in 2010….we’re already there.
Ah….here’s one for you. Those freaky freakpop warlords of the northwest, WIZARD BOOTS along with those wild young bloozers THE KISSY FACE LOVERS and one man electro-freakout THE LOUNGE GIZZARD…..all three in the very same big ol’ rock n’ roll show at THE KNIFE SHOP right next door to Kelly’s Olympian down at 426 SW Washington…right here in lovely downtown PDX on 1/21/10! Jesus-Tittyfucking-Christ!!! That’s a rawk show!

WIZARD BOOTS….EMPIRE ROCKET MACHINE…..and…THE KISSY FACE LOVERS? Holy shit! Fuck all this holiday malarkey and let’s all come out for some fine live music in P-Town on a Thursday night wontcha now? And looking at this poster I’m sure you’re wondering about my twisted evil theme during all this holly jolly gayness or whatever….and you wonder, “Why can’t Wizard Boots just get with the program and do a nice holiday themed poster?” FUCK THAT and FUCK this season!!! I’m festive and fun all goddamn year long…..THIS bullshit season is all about religion and commerce….two things that turn my stomach, so I’ll come down your chimney, but that’s about as far as it’ll go. ANYWAY…..the show is THIS Thursday night….at THE TONIC LOUNGE….3100 NE Sandy here in lovely Portland Oregon. The Kissy Faces are on at 9:30….hope to see you there!

….FUCKABOUTHAT, is the brand new video from yr new favorite band, WIZARD BOOTS!!! So have a little viewing party with all of your little friends and get really loaded and put ecstasy in the dip so by the end of the video, it’s become an orgy. Just make sure to time it right, so you actually get to watch this goddamn thing. Filmed in various basements all over Portland, this video is us dropping bombs on the despicable marketing machine of America. It is also a statement, standing tall & proud in this era of retouched, remastered, Jerry Bruckheimer’s nightmares-type of video production…THIS video was concieved, directed and edited by yours truly on a very meager budget. Less than 20 bucks actually! If you don’t count all the booze and other substances that were consumed…

So, after watching THAT….I’m sure you’re now wondering, “How in the hell did Wizard Boots make a music video that would have looked ultra-impressive in 1981…now…in 2007…for less than 20 bucks? (not counting the river of booze and other substances…) Well, if you’re wondering…then you should probably watch this delightful little film also just dropped from the evil clutches of Invisible Grizzly Agenda…..it’s “How To Make A Music Video For Less Than 20 Dollars….OR….How To Get Your Band And Other Friends To Do Ridiculous Things For The Sake Of Your Own Twisted And Selfish Artisitic Vision”. Enjoy…

Ah yes….no wonder they’re calling me the Spike Jonez of Portland basement cinema…..well….one guy did. Anyway…..the show at the Twilight Friday night was too much fun. The sound of this band live is truly monstrous and you never know what kind of mood the monster is going to be in….it might cozy up and want to cuddle…or it might drink up all your whiskey, fuck yr girlfriend and then blow you away with a shotgun. This band is a wild horse and I’m not going to try and break it….it should run free…trip and fall at unexpected times…..gallop gloriously across majestic plains at others. We even unveiled two brand new songs last night, including one with Grand Funk taking the reins for lead vocal….a Wizard Boots first! More new music and surprises on the way….stay tuned to this vibration.

Yes….so much darkness and evil only two weeks apart….AND, we’ve still got Winter Solstice ahead to look forward to! This is my favorite time of the year….All manner of horror flicks/B-movie splatterific trash has been in rotation, along with plenty of sonic creepiness from all my 80’s goth favorites. Halloween is upon us….so don’t forget to REJECT and RIDICULE anything related to all of this touchy feely nonsense I’ve been seeing about vampires lately. What the fuck is this shit? Vampires in touch with their feelings? Give me a fucking break. Let’s keep it evil kids. Secondly, I just want to briefly address this cinematic attrocity invading all of your local theaters this week…..Michael Jackson’s This Is It. Now come on, he was pretty goddamn creepy, so I think this goes well with the Halloween theme. I just think it is really despicable what these people are doing. Hasn’t this dead guy made enough money for all of you worthless bloodsucking leeches? And what’s REALLY fucked up is that there isn’t a single review or media promotion of the fucking thing that doesn’t somehow mention the rush release/cash in factor. It’s like a crowd of people raping a corpse and chanting “NECROPHILIA IS WRONG” at the same time. Fuck them….fuck this movie and fuck what they’re eventually going to do to any tiny bit of dignity the poor bastard had left.
Now onward to Friday the 13th. We’ll be playing at the Twilight Cafe in Portland with our new friends, MODA and Fun Yeti. Here’s some links:
http://www.myspace.com/modapdx
http://www.myspace.com/funyeti
Twilight Cafe is located at 1420 SE Powell, and it’s only 3 bucks to see all three of these bands. Damn. You need to get off the couch…stop twattering to all yr little friends about all yr little teen vampire dramas….and get out for some real entertainment. And speaking of real entertainment….I’ve got the first 30 seconds of the “Fuckabouthat” video edited together….not far to go to reach that magic 3 minute mark…..as long as I stay busy, I forget how long I’ve been awake.

Invisible Grizzly Agenda and our webmaster, the mighty Dieselboi are proud to bring you the official Wizard Boots website! We’ll continue to do some updating on the Wizard Boots myspace page, but this will now be the one stop for future news, gigs, releases, and all other related nonsense. It’s kind of bare bones here at the start, but we’ll be adding a bunch of features to give you a sense of the history of Wizard Boots, as well as the journey forward. AND….it’s an open forum, so tell us what you really think.
Currently the band is based in Portland, Oregon and the line up is still led by Christopher E. (aka Wizard Boots) along with longtime collaborators, Gerald “Grand Funk Railroad” Lunn and The Andi. Our newest member is the diabolical Henchman 55 on drums and guitars. Not sure if the age of the album is over, so a new collection of songs is still in the works….the follow up to 2007’s “Dandelion Blossoms”, tentatively titled, “Ole’ Biscuit Barrel!”……we’ll see what happens. A new music video is in prodution and there are several shows planned up through January, as well as the soon to be announced 2nd annual “Boots Up Yr America” U.S. Tour. More to come, so stay tuned to this vibration for the latest!
