I had a dream…

KentonPoster

….and in this particular dream, I was a god…ruling over a primitive people on a large tropical island.   I lived in a huge volcano in the middle of the island (this is starting to sound like an old Star Trek episode…I know…) and was basically pretty decent to my little island folk….they always had plenty to eat, the weather was consistently nice and I was always quick to rise up and strike down any outside threats to my people.   The one thing that annoyed some of them about me was this….I had access to a godlike iPod with about 1,000,000 gigs of memory….pretty much any song you could imagine.  The godlike iPod was hooked up to an equally godlike sound system that allowed me to blast whatever tunes I liked at any hour of the day.  Even though I had this awesome power over my people and most of them appreciated my tastes and ability to pick music that seemed to fit the days and nights and events almost always perfectly, some of the islanders would inevitably take exception to me playing the entire Zappa “You Can’t Do That Onstage Anymore” series or The Cure’s “Pornography” or anything by Flying Saucer Attack….and they would openly renounce me.  Then things would get ugly.  I would rise out of my volcano and strike the blasphemers down with a giant hammer of magma.   The iPod thing isn’t the strangest thing about this dream….it’s that the islanders knew that I…as a god… existed and that they could interact with me if they wished….sometimes they even left song requests scrawled into flat stones and coconuts on the edge of the volcano and I would on occasion play some of these requests.  So….am I overly obsessed with music and/or utterly insane?  We shall see.

“Ole’ Biscuit Barrel!” is so close you can feel it watching you…it’s hiding in the bushes outside your window right now.  Get ready….it’s coming.  On Saturday August 14th Wizard Boots makes our annual summer return up to the world famous Kenton Club to play our part in a big ol’ rock n’ roll show like no other….The Downtown Tramps, The Holy Children and The Justin Lunde Trio are also on the bill.    Tony has to be away playing his part in someone’s wedding, so this show will be just me and THE ANDI with our old friend Joel from our old friends The Holy Children on drums.  Many asses will be rocked on this night in the Kenton district…so…be there!

Take THAT, you white bitch!

July 22nd

This band of Booties are restless and continue on their summer rampage….even after drinking beers in the sun all day yesterday and an epic 2+ hours onstage last night.   A few bits of news….Boots ringleader, Christopher E. is interviewed by chief editor, Paul H. in the current issue of The Music & Band Ezine.  Here’s the link:

This weekend….Saturday July 17th to be exact….we make our second annual appearance in downtown PDX for the acoustic guerrilla uprising, Big Busk Festival.   Wizard Boots will be somewhere just off Pioneer Square sometime around 5 to 6pm followed by a second performance at the afterparty over in the St. Johns district.  More details to come before the weekend….here’s a link to the official site:

The following Thursday night…July 22nd…we play an early opening set downtown at the good old Ash Street Saloon with Hugs & Punches, The Taste and Echo Park CA’s Electric Children.  Godzilla’s autopsy has the details above.

And the summer of incredible coincidence continues…while sipping the above mentioned beer up on the balcony yesterday, our good friend Jeremy…formerly of The Kissy Face Lovers, now fronting his new blooze combo, The Downtown Tramps, happened to pass by and came on in to hang out at the casa for a bit.  Wizard Boots will be joining The Tramps and an excellent line up of other bands for a big ol’ happening at the world famous Kenton Club on Saturday August 14th.   This will be our opportunity to redeem ourselves from our extemely drunken show there last summer….although all who attended still say it was our best Portland show ever….so who knows?  More news, updates on the impending release of the long awaited “Ole’ Biscuit Barrel!” and other surprises on the way.  Stay tuned to this vibration….
